Instagram announced a new feature on 22 February 2017, where users will be able to upload multiple photos or videos to produce a "slideshow" item in their Instagram feeds. More information in this article by Refinery29, and also here from Instagram.

The feature looks like this (sourced from the Refinery29 article):

We will support this feature in due course.

However currently (23 February at time of writing) it is not supported, because of three reasons:

  1. We need to make changes to our interface and how we store items in our database -- so that you can upload your content!
  2. We need to test through the process of uploading these 'slideshows' and make sure that we manage any errors that could occur (which takes quite a bit of time and testing on our Android phones); and
  3. Not all accounts have this enabled yet, and so we will need to likely wait for it to be more globally supported before we roll it out, or we'll try and upload one and the Instagram app won't let us!

Rest assured that we want to get this feature to you as soon as we can, and our team will do some of the preparatory work (ie number 1) in the interim, but we will need to wait for Instagram to roll it out more widely before we can do the rest of the work. We observed something similar occurring with the 'rectangular images/video' feature they rolled out a few years ago, and it was a few weeks before the feature was out globally, but obviously we can't say if that will be the same here.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out to our team.
